This is not uncommon for mothers.  It happens sometimes.  Also they still can still get pains during letdown like during contractions since oxytocin is being released.

I was sitting on the couch breastfeeding Alexis, and I had to immediately stop and run to the bathroom, to throw up. I still have a feeling in the pit of my stomach like I have to again. This sucks!
